Joan Rivers is refusing to back down after telling a joke about the Ohio kidnapping victims who were held captive for over ten years that many saw as inappropriate.

During an appearance on "Today" Tuesday to promote her reality series "Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best", Rivers responded to a question about the living conditions at her daughter's Malibu, CA home by saying, "Those women in the basement in Cleveland had more space."

Rivers remains defiant despite a backlash from social media and calls for an apology from two of the women's attorneys. "I'm a comedienne," she said to the Cleveland Plain Dealer"I know what those girls went through. It was a little, stupid joke. There is nothing to apologize for. I made a joke. That's what I do. Calm down. Calm f------ down. I'm a comedienne. They're free, so let's move on."
