Why Influencers Shouldn’t Run From Shreveport
Travel and food influencers Josh and Jase had a trip planned through Louisiana to get a taste of Cajun cuisine and southern heat, originally planning to make a stop in Shreveport, but the duo fled the city in less than 24 hours.
The trip came to an early end when the two posted pictures and videos of the hotel they were staying in, everyone agreed that the hotel was not a good spot but even more people online told the creators that Shreveport was just a bad place to be, leading to social media outrage all around the city.
Influencers Flee Shreveport For NOLA, Looking For Safety...
Josh & Jase shared a video later explaining their side of the story. They explained that they felt unsafe staying in the city, based on the hotel they had been stuck with and the comments they had seen online, which is why they left when offered a room in Lake Charles.
It's almost ironic considering that the two felt unsafe staying in Shreveport and are ending their Louisiana tour in New Orleans, a notoriously unsafe city.
There are rich opportunities for content creators like Josh & Jase in Shreveport and its neighbor, Bossier City. If Josh & Jase ever give Shreveport another chance, or if some other content creators ever want to feature the city in their content, these are some of the best times and places to do it.
Mudbug Madness
One of Shreveport's greatest prides in Cajun culture is the yearly Mudbug Madness festival every May. A perfect example of an event that content creators and influencers could easily make into views, full of live and local music, with enough crawfish to feed everyone in the comments.
Prize Fest
One of the most prestigious local art competitions, if not the most prestigious, Prize Fest is a festival featuring filmmakers, musicians, chefs, comedians, and more, all competing for the opportunity at over $100,000 in cash prizes. The festival has grown to include Film Prize, Food Prize, and Music Prize.
A celebration of local culture and a collaboration of local creators is a perfect place not just for influencers to see and share the good side of Shreveport, but also a great opportunity for creators to network and learn more about art and film.
Geek'd Con
Another great opportunity for many kinds of content creators and influencers is the city's 10-year running pop-culture comic-con, Geek'd Con. Every August, actors, artists, celebrities, including Joey Fatone that one time, anime voice actors, including Joey Fatone that second time, authors, and more all come to the Shreveport Convention Center for the biggest show of its kind in the region.
Shreveport Deserves Better
There's no denying the fact that Josh & Jase did end up in a pretty bad motel in a part of town not many would want to find themselves in, but one shady part of Shreveport doesn't have to condemn the whole city like the comments on TikTok seem to think. The city is full of kind people, with plenty of fun to be found year round, casinos, conerts, Sci-Port, and if Shreveport doesn't have enough Bossier City is just across the river.
In the future, as a city, if another influencer finds themselves a damsel in distress on Monkhouse Drive, let's make sure we're the first ones to lend a helping hand.
