Kanye West was roasted online earlier this month after showing up to 2 Chainz's wedding on Aug. 18 wearing a mint-colored suit and a pair of taupe Yeezy Nylon Slippers that seemed a tad too small for his feet. Today (Aug. 28) he responded on Twitter to the jokes and memes by explaining that he wears his slides "the Japanese way."

A T-shirt featuring drawings of the infamous fit from the Instagram account Diet Prada appears to have provoked the response. West posted an image of the shirt and added several crying face and fire emojis.

His next tweet features a diagram of a foot wearing a sandal with the heel hanging slightly off the back, captioned, "Your heal should extend 1~2cm off the back of the wooden sole," and a second photo helpfully illustrating the technique. West captioned the tweet, "The Japanese way."

In any case, the slides in question, originally listed for a cool $150, are sold out on the Yeezy Supply website. An endorsement from Louis Vuitton's men's artistic director Virgil Abloh, who designed the suit Yeezy paired with the sandals, may have helped.

"That was the most important outfit of recent memory," Abloh told Refinery29 after Chainz's wedding. "It gave me hope after all the oversaturation of fashion where every two weeks there's a new it shoe."
