Kelly Ripa A No-Show On ‘LIVE!’

After Tuesday's bombshell news that Michael Strahan would be leaving LIVE! With Kelly and Michael, viewers were expecting to hear Kelly Ripa's reaction, but it didn't happen on the air. In fact, she didn't even bother to do Wednesday's show.

Former Saturday Night Live castmember Ana Gasteyer sat in for Ripa Wednesday, and it's being reported that she won't be back until Tuesday at the earliest.

It all began when ABC announced Strahan's departure from LIVE! after four years to join Good Morning America on a full-time basis beginning in September.

Ripa and longtime executive producer Michael Gelman got the news only a few minute before ABC made the announcement, according to sources, who also say that Ripa was "caught off-guard" and "livid".

"On tomorrow's 'LIVE with Kelly and Michael,' Erin Andrews will guest co-host with Michael Strahan," a spokeswoman for LIVE! said Wednesday. "Friday's show -- which already was scheduled to pre-tape on Thursday -- also will be co-hosted by Andrews. Kelly Ripa will be out on Friday and Monday for a previously-scheduled vacation. On Monday's show, Michael will be joined by 'Pretty Little Liars' star Shay Mitchell."

This move leads to speculation that GMA may expand from two to three hours, cutting into LIVE!, which airs at 9 a.m. in most markets.
