Dating is a complicated thing, now throw in factors like how many singles there really are in your area and economics. Thankfully there's a study that has gone through all of the complicated stuff to find out just how hard dating is in Louisiana.

WalletHub has collected data about dating opportunities (things like the number of singles in an area), local interest in online dating, housing/rent affordability, the job market, as well as events and establishments that make good dates.

All of this data to determine the best and worst states for singles looking for a romantic opportunity.

Louisiana Is Riding Solo

According to the study Louisiana has the second most single adults out of all 50 states, right behind New Mexico. Even though Louisiana might be brimming to the top with single people it seems not many of them are willing to mingle, at least not online.

Over 50% of America has never even touched a dating app or website, which is well reflected in Louisiana as we are the state with what the study calls the 3rd lowest "online-dating opportunities" category.

The Economics of Dating

Louisiana had one of the worst dating economies in the study. The study ranked each state on a "dating economics" rank, made up of data like movie theaters per capita, the state's crime rate, average income, and job stability.

These factors all help determine how difficult it is to date because, in truth, dating costs money. While you can of course have a relationship without expensive dates, try asking your next Tinder date to make paper plate arts and crafts because you can't afford dinner, probably a good way to get ghosted or find the one for you if paper plates arts and crafts are your thing.

Louisiana's singles struggle to find a date seemingly because the economy here in the Boot State makes it hard to get off the ground when trying to find a date.
