This coming weekend, Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12, Louisiana is again holding our annual Free Fishing Weekend" and neither residents nor visitors will be required to have a license to fish in Louisiana waters.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Secretary Jack Montoucet says, "Each year, we designate a weekend of free fishing as an incentive for families and friends to enjoy our beautiful Sportsman’s Paradise.  Bring a neighbor, a friend, or a family member and let them experience the great fishing Louisiana has to offer."

Even Though You Won't Need a License, All Other Laws Will Be Enforced

Now, don't get carried away as far as wildlife laws are concerned over the weekend. Even though you won't need a fishing license, all fishing regulations, including size, season, catch limits and gear restrictions will remain in effect during Free Fishing Weekend.

As an added incentive to get out and take advantage of the Free Fishing Weekend, LDWF has stocked adult sized catfish at 17 ponds across the state as part of the Get Out and Fish! program.

Go to the LDWF website or Facebook page to find locations of ponds, dates of stocking, and tips on how to catch and cook your catfish.

Just Remember, The Free Fishing Weekend Is ONLY This Weekend

LDWF reminds the public that anytime outside of Free Fishing Weekend, anglers 18 and older must possess a Louisiana fishing license when fishing in any Louisiana public waters.

If you haven't seen the new license schedule that just went into effect on June 1, you can see that and even purchase your license online HERE.
