Louisiana Is Lacking Innovation
A new study shows that Louisiana is falling behind other states in innovation, scaring away possible job opportunities in big fields.
Innovation Drives Financial Growth, But Not Here.
Financial growth in the United States is driven primarily by innovation, some of our biggest industries revolve around technology and its seemingly never-ending expansion.
Some states in America are well known as being havens of the tech industry, but in recent years some major tech companies have been making their move out of tech hubs like Silicon Valley, one satellite company working with Apple even moved their headquarters here to Louisiana.
A new study shows just how innovative each state is through tons of data on the workforce, education, and laws just to name a few. States like California and Massachusetts scored high on the study's rankings. Many southern states however, including Louisiana, were near the bottom of the list on most metrics in the study.
Louisiana is The Second Least Innovative State
Fifth worst in venture-capital funding, third last in the share of tech companies, second last in the amount of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) professionals, and last in research and development spending, Louisiana is the second least innovative state in America.
The only state less innovative than Louisiana was Mississippi, a common trend being that many of the low-ranking states are southern. Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, and Alabama are all a part of the list of top 20 least innovative states in Louisiana.
Things don't look like they're getting better for Louisiana as the study projects the demand for STEM jobs in Louisiana by 2030 will be the 5th lowest in the country.
