The good news... Our food is good. The bad news... Maybe a little too good.

It's certainly no secret that down here in Louisiana, we like everything about food. We like to cook it. We like to eat it. Hell, we like to smell it. Our love for food, though, has unfortunately put us (once again) on the top of a not-so-positive list.

A new report says Louisiana has the sixth highest adult obesity rate in the nation. The report was put together and shared by Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

36% of our adult population is obese, up from 23% in 2000 and 12% in 1990. A mind-blowing 43% of adults aged 45 to 64 are obese.

When it comes to kids and young adults, the results are slightly better compared to the rest of the nation, but not by much. Louisiana ranks 8th in the country for obesity rate of 10 to 17-year-olds.

How do you believe we can buck this trend as a state? Maybe a Michael Scott-inspired statewide weight loss program? I'm just spit balling here...
