
Louisiana Sets New State Early Voting Record
Just under a week before the 2024 Presidential Election, Louisiana got out to vote early this election.
- Compared to the 2020 election there was a 4% increase of in-person early voting.
The Louisiana Secretary of State's office has released the early voting statistics revealing that over 963,000 residents have cast their ballot early, with 849,790 of those votes being cast in person, setting a new record in the state.
Early voting began on October 18th and ended on the 30th. The parish with the most votes cast is East Baton Rouge Parish where 81,210 early votes were cast in person and 12,308 were cast as absentee ballots.
Locally Caddo Parish saw 40,077 residents cast their ballots early, Bossier Parish counted 27,272 ballots, Webster Parish counted 7,868, De Soto Parish at 7,605, Red River Parish 1,508 ballots, and Bienville counted 2,071.

The demographic breakdown between Bossier Parish and Cadoo is quite stark, with the White voting populations of Bossier and Caddo similar the difference between the black vote in both Parishes stands out. Caddo Parish saw over 15,000 early ballots from Black voters, compared to the little over 4,000 black votes cast in Bossier Parish.
The party breakdown between Bossier and Caddo is intriguing as well, with only 5,781 of the early ballots cast in Bossier representing those of Democrats while 15,900 of those ballots represented republican votes, but in Caddo, the Democrat vote soared above both the Republican votes in Caddo (15,574) and Bossier with 17,742 early votes in Caddo representing Democrats.
