Louisiana, Today Is Your Last Day To Register To Vote
Election Day draws closer and closer, and those in Louisiana looking to cast their ballot have a short time to register before it's too late.
The deadline to vote in person or through the mail was on October 7th, leaving Louisiana's only option to vote through the internet, of which the deadline is today.
To vote in the presidential election on November 5th all Louisiana residents must be registered at least 20 days prior to an election if registering online, that's 10 days less than the 30 days prior when registering by mail or in person.
Online Registration
If you are looking to vote you need to do so soon as the cut-off is at the end of the day today, and the Office of Motor Vehicles warns that system maintenance is performed on the website every day from 1 pm to 4 pm, meaning during those 3 hours you will not be able to register.
Alternatively, if you need to update your voter registration you can do so from the same website.
During the process of filing your online registration make sure not to take too long otherwise the website is programmed to time out and clear your personal data for your safety after five minutes without input.
To qualify for online voter registration you must be above the age of 18.
To register online you will need to provide personal information such as a permanent address, full name, social security number, and some form of state-issued ID. The Secretary of State's website warns that a Louisiana Mobility Impaired card is not an accepted form of ID because it lacks a signature.
