Citizens who don't vote are usually alike in demographics, being distinctly different compared to those who do vote. The key traits you are likely to find in someone who doesn't vote include, youth, ethnic minority, low income, and less educated. The largest voting demographic typically is that of Whites.
"As a demographic group, White voters tend to be older, wealthier, and better educated than some minority groups, and Whties have historically had higher levels of trust in governemtn." - Christopher M England, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, College of Western Idaho
Louisiana Represents All
WalletHub recently published a study looking into which states have the best and worst representation of voter groups in Presidential elections, Louisiana managed to land in the better half of all the states.
At a rank of 18 out of 50 states, WalletHub gave Louisiana a voter representation score of 91.3 out of 100 points possible. The score was determined by analyzing data from the 2020 census, comparing the population of selected demographics to their voter turnout in the 2020 election. Overall the score of 91.3 was weighed and calculated based on the state's scores in three main demographics.
Louisiana had a score of 84.95 on racial representation, placing the state at 19 out of 50. Representation in age demographics was where Louisiana faltered, ranking at 29 of 50. Though if you consider the score itself Louisiana may have done worse than other states when it came to age representation but the state scored 89.3 for its age representation score, it takes another 5 states to reach a score higher by a full point.
Louisiana's best-performing demographic that usually finds itself unrepresented across the country is that of gender. Louisiana scored 3rd rank for a gender representation score of 99.5, though all but 3 states had a gender representation score above 95.
