Louisiana’s Most Terrifying Urban Legends
A state as old as Louisiana is bound to have some good myths and legends. Werewolves, ghosts, voodoo, and real life murder...all of these themes fill the urban legends of Louisiana.
Some of the urban legends of Louisiana date all the way back to the 1700s, while others just started to gain circulation in the last 20 years. But that's the thing about urban legends, they can be anything they want to be. Urban legends, at least the good ones, are always built with at least some fact, and then a lot of legend.
If the average urban legend is 40% fact, and 60% legend, some of these Louisiana legends are 75% fact, and 25% legend. Which might be why they're so strong. Plenty of these stories are based in written history, or factual crimes. But there's always a deeper story to each one, which is what makes them so gripping.
