Louisiana’s Ben McDonald Tells Unforgettable Alligator Prank Story

Baseball season is officially here. College baseball is in full swing, Spring Training is happening in the pros. Now, if you're a baseball fan of any kind, you're probably very familiar with former LSU superstar Ben McDonald. Big Ben is the first ever #1 draft pick in the pros out of LSU, he regularly calls SEC & Orioles games, he appears often on ESPN, etc.. In short, Big Ben is a Louisiana Legend. He's also a bit of a prankster.

Well recently, Ben shared a hilarious story about a spring training prank from his time with the Orioles.

Ben is about as Louisiana as a man can get - he's always sporting camo, he loves hunting and fishing...I mean, you spend 10 minutes on his X page or Facebook, you can tell this guy is from Louisiana. There's no doubt about it.

Well, recently on the Ryan Ripken Show, Big Ben shared a hilarious Spring Training story that is so crazy that two things are certain: 1 - Ben is MOST DEFINITELY from Louisiana. 2 - This most assuredly a story so crazy it has to be true.

This hilarious Louisiana themed pranked brought together several key elements - gators, sports and torturing people from 'the North'.

Ben McDonald's Hilarious Alligator Prank

While Ben didn't specify what year this story took place, he did mention then Orioles GM Roland Hemond who was in charge from 88-95...so this had to be pretty early in Ben McDonald's career.

Anyway, Ben who grew up living on the Bayous of Louisiana, had experience with dealing with alligators. He also, during down time in Florida during spring training, would go bass fishing around the team facility. Well, Ben hooked into a small alligator one day and got a "bright" idea - it would be HILARIOUS to unleash this little fella in the clubhouse.
