LSU Makes 20th CWS Trip: The Jell-O Shot Count Starts Now!
I mean this in the best way possible, but LSU fans are absolutely insane. You read stories all the time about LSU fans traveling to a Bowl Game and drinking a flight out of beer and sorts of crazy stuff like that. They are absolutely legendary and insane.
Which brings us to the College World Series. The Bayou Bengals swept West Virginia over the weekend to punch their tickets to Omaha and another shot at a National Championship. That also means LSU fans have another shot at making their own history - by breaking ANOTHER record at Rocco's Pizza & Cantina in Omaha.
College World Series: More Than Just Baseball for LSU Fans
The College World Series means a lot of things for a lot of people. For the LSU Tigers, at this point, it's almost expected they'll make Omaha every year. They are one of the biggest powerhouses in College Baseball - winning 7 World Series Titles, 17 SEC Championships and 12 Conference Tournament Titles. From Todd Walker to Paul Skenes, the Tigers are always poised to make a Championship run.
However, the last two years, the Tigers have fallen short of expectations and haven't been able to make it back to Omaha since winning the Title in 2023. So, this is a chance for the program to climb back up to the top of the mountain.
For the fans, this is also an opportunity for them to make more history...at Rocco's. Every year, Rocco's in Omaha does a challenge to see which fan base can down the most Jell-O shots during the tournament.
It's a contest that's all in good fun and raises some funds for charity (last year the contest raised over $145,000 for various local food charities). Tiger fans, unsurprisingly, hold the record for most shots downed.
While LSU was winning a World Series in 2023, LSU fans were making history at Rocco's by downing 68,888 Jell-O shots - which beat the previous record set by Ole Miss by more than 50,000 shots - their record was 18,777.
Predicting the 2025 LSU Jell-O Shot Count
If there's one thing LSU fans are known for it, it's their ability to have a good time. And with LSU back in Omaha, there's an overwhelming feeling and expectation that Tiger fans are going to once again blow the doors off of the Rocco's record.
Whether you're looking on Instagram, Tiger Droppings or X, a lot of folks are looking forward to seeing how much damage LSU fans can do in Omaha. A lot of folks are predicting fans to re-break the record...the biggest question is where will they stop?
Some think 70,000 is a reasonable expectation. Others feel 80k is more likely. I'm personally going to go out on a limb and set the over/under at 90k shots. And since LSU fans have the goal of being record breakers, I'm taking the over. I'm thinking that if the Tigers can make a deep World Series run, fans are going to get pretty darn close to knocking back 100k Jell-O shots.
