LSU Star Football Player Wanted for Negligent Homicide
A shocking story is coming out of the LSU football program today. Star wide receiver Kyren Lacy is now wanted by authorities on homicide charges.
WAFB-TV is reporting that Louisiana State Police have issued warrants for Lacy's arrest on charges of Felony Hit-and-Run and Negligent Homicide. The warrants are in connection with a December 17th, 2024 accident that killed a man.
Authorities say the victim was 78-year-old Herman Hall of Thibodaux, Louisiana. Hall is a Marine veteran, who was traveling as a passenger in a Kid Sorrento when Lacy's Dodge Charger caused the Kia to get hit head-on. The crash reportedly happened around 10am on December 17th. WAFB obtained a document from the Louisiana State Police that says:
"As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound lane pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup truck was a Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound Kia Sorrento. Following the crash, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash."
Lacy had just completed his 5th year of college football, and actually declared for the NFL Draft a couple of days AFTER the alleged crash. Over the course of his college career, Lacy had caught over 162 passes and scored 26 touchdowns.
