Saturday was a big night for the LSU Tigers. Not only did they kick off the 2019 season with a win over Georgia Southern in Tiger Stadium. But they did it while making a statement. The Number 6 Tigers absolutely DOMINATED, beating the Eagles 55-3.

The victory was big for multiple reasons. In the past, the Tigers haven't exactly dominated these types of games. A few years ago, if you remember, they were taken to the limit by several second tier teams like Syracuse. So, winning in dominating fashion is definitely a good sign.

On top of that, the Tigers debuted their "new look" offense...and man it looked potent. In fact, starting QB Joe Burrow tied a school record by tossing 5 touchdowns. Did I mention that he tied that record by throwing 5 TDs in the FIRST HALF!

Burrow finished 23-of-27 for 278 yards and those five scores. Burrow tied Zach Mettenberger’s record that was set in 2013 against UAB. Burrow potentially could have broken the record, but the Tigers decided to show some mercy in the 2nd half of the game.

Not only did Burrow put up points, but he also didn't turn the ball over. Now, I understand LSU faced off against an inferior opponent this week. I get that. But LSU has taken on a lot of inferior opponents and hadn't had this kind of performance.

Next week, the Tigers will be taking a major step up in competition when the square off with the 10th ranked Texas Longhorns.
