Zach Ortner, a fabulous K945 listener, contacted me a few weeks ago regarding an event being put on by the student board members of The Society for Human Resource Management at LSUS. When he ran this event past me, I loved it! Please join them for The Red Hanger Event which will benefit Dress for Success and help disadvantaged women regain economic independence! Here's what Zach has to tell us about the event! Please help if you can!

The idea for this event came about as a service project for us students at LSUS. We are student board members of a student organization (The Society for Human Resource Management - SHRM) and on the heels of winning two national awards in 2 consecutive years we were looking to top ourselves and give back.

We recognized that Dress for Success as a service partner would be the perfect fit for us because of the commonality of professionalism. At LSUS we stress the importance of professionalism and the mission of Dress for Success involves helping disadvantaged women regain economic independence through professional dress and interview preparation among other things as well as providing support through their professional women's groups.

Needless to say our service project has morphed into a luncheon called the Red Hanger Event which will benefit Dress for Success and help them to continue their mission. Part of our service project involved a Fall Clothing Drive which we hosted in conjunction with Enterprise Holdings. We had a goal of collecting at least 500 items and we were able to beat that with the help of LSUS Faculty and Staff, the staff of Enterprise Holdings and Chemistry Salon.

The luncheon will take place on Thursday January 31st 2013 at the Horseshoe Casino Riverdome from 11:30am to 1pm. Liz Swaine will be our MC extraordinaire and the event promises to be a lot of fun. We intend to highlight the great work that the Dress for Success Shreveport-Bossier organization is doing. We also plan to have a fabulous style show which will feature some highly recognizable faces from around the Shreveport-Bossier community as well as women who have benefitted from this organization. They will be dressed by some equally fabulous boutiques.

Tickets for the event are $50, corporate tables are $1000, and all donations are tax deductible. I am attaching a letter that we have been sending to some of our corporate sponsors so that you get a sense of the sponsorship levels and the related benefits. Should you know of someone who would like to get involved through sponsorship, feel free to pass along my telephone and/or e-mail contact.  (318) 547-0980 or Ortnerz78@lsus.edu
