Mardi Gras Spotlight: The Krewe Of Atlas

As past royalty for the Krewe of Atlas (Duchess of Lagniappe IV), I feel uniquely qualified to shed some light on this truly unique and special krewe.

The Krewe of Atlas is the youngest in the Ark-La-Tex (est. 2006), but if there's one thing they're known for, is throwing an insane party! Atlas will celebrate Mardi Gras this Saturday as they present their 6th Grand Bal showcasing both the krewe and this year's royalty! I'll be your hostess with the mostess, so look forward to some awkward gaffs... not on the scale of the Golden Globes or anything... mainly because there won't be censors present! The bal and tableau are this Saturday, January 18th at Sam's Town Casino. Doors open at 6:30pm with tableau at 7pm. Dinner will follow the presentation. Tickets are $65 and the event is formal. We will (of course) be on hand for the festivities so make sure keep checking back for pictures and make sure you listen Friday as we'll have some of the krewe members in studio to talk about all things Atlas!

If you're looking for a Mardi Gras home, Atlas just might be for you! In addition to having a good time, the krewe also focuses on charitable endeavors and supports organizations like Grace Home, the Philadelphia Center, the Bossier Arts Council, the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank, the Pink Party and Seeds for Peace. They also participate in Run or Dye as well as the Walk to End Alzheimer's.

As a new krewe we are currently recruiting members. You do not have to know anything about Mardi Gras to come and have a good time! Our krewe does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, sexual orientation, disability, or income.
