Microsoft has announced a deal worth $800 million that will bring Louisiana jobs and a cleaner environment around us.

Louisiana Invites Carbon Capture

Greenhouse gases are a constant hot topic for companies across the world. Carbon Dioxide, aka CO2, is the most notable greenhouse gas because it's the most common. From breathing to driving, almost everything produces CO2.

CO2 is believed to be a leading cause of climate change because CO2 holds heat better than the plain old oxygen in the air. To combat the immense production of CO2, Louisiana has been pushing a carbon capture program.

The program will create facilities across the state that have on job, remove the CO2 from the air, and store it in the facility.

Artificial Intelligence And Gases

Microsoft's CO2 output is among the highest that American companies cause, and with the advent of artificial intelligence, power and resource requirements have jumped.

Putting out more CO2 consistently, Microsoft has put forward an $800 million investment in a project to remove 6.75 million tons of CO2 using carbon capture facilities in Louisiana.

The company AtmosClear is one of the leaders in carbon capture projects in Louisiana. Microsoft will be working with AtmosClear to create jobs in the state and work towards balancing out how much CO2 the company produces with how much is being taken out of the atmosphere.

There is fear for the project, as carbon capture projects have been rewarded by the federal government in the last few years with a tax credit. Some are skeptical that the tax credit will last much longer before the Trump Administration cuts the federal tax credit.

Louisiana has sent state officials to the Department of Energy for the last several days so they can lobby officials into hopefully keeping a tax credit that has brought investments, industry, and jobs to Louisiana.
