This winter storm will most certainly go down in history.  I have live in this area for a huge portion of my life, and I don't ever remember any winter weather quite this intense.  The unrelenting cold has made life difficult for residents of Northwest Louisiana in so many different ways.  Just getting around has become almost impossible due to the near impassible frozen roadways.

We're not just talking about some back roads that don't get driven on all that often - we're talking about major interstates that play host to a non-stop stream of cars and trucks 24 hours a day!  Parts of I-220 and I-49 have been shut down for days due to major icing and dangerous conditions.  Now a gigantic stretch of the mighty Interstate 20 has been closed to motorists.

According to KSLA, the approximately 103 miles of westbound I-20 between Shreveport and highway 165 in Monroe has been closed indefinitely.  The Louisiana State Police cited the massive number of 18-wheelers getting stuck on this stretch of road as the reason they had to close it off.  By their count, more than 100 semi tractor trailers were stranded along with a number of passenger cars and trucks.

Officials say that these big trucks couldn't climb icy inclines, such as bridges and overpasses.  Louisiana State Police have closed this section of I-20 and have rerouted all remaining traffic on the road.
