E'Dina Hines, the 33-year-old step granddaughter of actor Morgan Freeman, was stabbed to death early Sunday in New York City.

A rep for the NYPD told E! News that Hines was found on a street in Harlem with multiple stab wounds on her torso and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. An unidentified 30-year-old man was held at the scene and hospitalized at a different medical center. No charges have been filed and police are still investigating the incident.

"The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer," said Freeman in a statement. "Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace."
