One man has died in a shooting in Shreveport's Allendale neighborhood.

The shooting happened at about 8:30pm Sunday night. Officers were called to the 2700 block of Milam Street to reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 21-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was rushed to Ochsner Health where he later died from his wounds.

The Caddo Parish Coroner has identified the victim as 21-year-old Demond Lavatay Washington.

Detectives searched the area for clues and tried to track down any witnesses in the neighborhood. Few details have been released.

This is murder number 52 for Caddo Parish in 2021. This puts us on pace to top the record number of murders in Shreveport from 1993 where nearly 90 people were murdered.
