This week was quite the roller-coaster for this single dad.

It's always hard to deal with things pertaining to your children, especially when you have no control. That was the unusual case this week for me as both of my young daughters flew for the very first time. I don't think I've ever been more nervous in my life. Luckily, they weren't nervous at all, but I can't say the same about their daddy.

Their grandparents decided to take them on a much-needed trip to Florida before school starts, and their first flight was bright and early Monday morning. I brought them to the airport and waited with them until it was time for them to go, and I was a nervous wreck.

My oldest daughter FaceTimed me the entire time they were on the plane, up until the moment the flight attendant forced her to turn her phone off.

If I wasn't a nervous wreck yet, that immediate hang-up sent me there quickly.

Their flight only lasted a few hours but it felt like an eternity to me. Of course, they had the time of their lives this week, and I'm so glad they did, but I'll be OK if they never fly in a plane again.
