My Veterans Day Heroes: Part Two
I was blessed to be surrounded by a variety of different role models. I lived with my Nan and Pawpaw for a while, with my uncles and aunts, my mom and step dad, and for a few years - with my dad as well. My Dad (Robert W. Shelley - pictured above) is a laid back, easy-going kind of guy who drove a desk for the U.S. Army through some incredibly interesting times. And that's all he did, I don't ask questions.
Unfortunately, sometimes his desk driving took him away for a few years at a time. I feel like that is one of the most overlooked sacrifices that our military service members and their families endure. The sacrifice of time. As some of these brave folks endure a dangerous life on the other side of the planet, they are also missing some of the best years of their famillies lives. I salute all that give this and any sacrifice in defense of my freedom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Here's dad now! He's retired and works with a computer firm that does contract work (no questions) for our famous uncle. Maybe you know him?
