No State is Worse for Women Than Louisiana
Another month, another WalletHub survey shining a negative light on the state of Louisiana.
Recently, I received an email from WalletHub alerting me of their findings. They decided to find the best and worst states for women. To reach their conclusions, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 24 key metrics.
Don't shoot the messenger, please. Personally, I find it incredibly hard to believe that no state in the US is worse for woman than Louisiana. I mean, we have it all here in the boot state. We have the best parties, the best food, and let's face it, the best looking men. Ok, maybe that last one was a little biased.
Still, even after diving deeply into the WalletHub report, I still don't believe we should be dead last.
The metrics used in the report included unemployment rate for women, share of women in poverty, female life expectancy, share of women-owned businesses, among others. All of which, Louisiana scored horrendously bad.
After average the findings from all 24 metrics, WalletHub concluded that Louisiana came in dead last... 51st. Even behind the District of Columbia.
So, if there are any women out there reading this, I would love to know what you think? Especially those of you who lived somewhere outside of Louisiana at one point in your life. Is life in Louisiana really that bad for women, compared to states around the country? I'm not saying we're the best, but I hate the thought of us being the worst.
