NWA, the pioneering gangsta-rap group that launched the careers of hip-hop superstars Ice Cube, Eazy-E and Dr. Dre, is about to have their story told on the big screen.

Ice Cube tweeted the news Wednesday that an NWA biopic entitled "Straight Outta Compton" is definitely in the works. "Finally found the cast for the NWA movie. Me, Gary Gray, Dre w/ Cube, Eazy & Dre#StraightOuttaCompton coming 8/14/15," Cube tweeted. O'Shea Jackson, Jr., Cube's son, will play his dad in the film, Dre will be played by Marcus Callender, and Jason Mitchell will take on the role of Eazy-E.

Casting is not complete, though; Cube issued another tweet which read,  "Still looking for our MC Ren and DJ Yella. #straightouttacompton coming 8/14/15."

In a recent interview, Ice Cube told MTV News, "I'm totally involved, I'm engulfed in it. This is our legacy, you can't play with this, there's no cutting corners. I'm fully engulfed in that movie, very anal about it. It gotta be right."
