One Baton Rouge Officer Shot Dead; Another Injured

WAFB reported today that one of the Baton Rouge Police officers that was shot during a call had died.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Police in Louisiana’s capital city say two officers have been taken to a hospital after being shot and wounded.

A Baton Rouge police spokesman, Don Coppola, said the department received reports of shots Sunday afternoon in the city's northern area.

Coppola told local media outlets he could confirm the officers are members of the department but he released few other details of what happened.

The media reports said two ambulances escorted by multiple police units were seen leaving the area and headed toward a hospital.

The conditions and the identities of the officers were not immediately released.
