Operation BBQ Relief Needs Donations to Feed Flood Victims in South Louisiana
It was only a couple of years ago that I first learned of Operation BBQ Relief and the incredible work they do in times of crisis to feed victims and workers after natural disasters. But in just that short time, I've been totally amazed at the number of people impacted by their generosity. And once again, the OBR gang has been deployed to the middle of crisis.
Shreveport's own Bryan Roppolo has been involved for quite some time and is now currently in Hammond, Louisiana preparing to feed a daily lunch to those who could use a hot meal in the midst of this catastrophe. The OBR gang is also accepting donations that they will transport directly to these victims.
From Bryan's Facebook page, we read the following:
We have an 18 wheeler and large enclosed trailer donated to take supplies south. Acadiana Energy and Shreveport Limousine have been extremely gracious offering these. Let's fill them up and blow it out!!
Hey Shreveport, you've all asked how you can help us, and while we are personally dry (house not so much) and have private places to stay and resources, there are 7,000 plus people in our parish and surrounding areas who are in shelters and will be there for days... At least.
Here's the deal. Lousianans are at their best when faced with opportunities to help others, so let's do that.
Feel free to SHARE this to get the word out.
Below are three opportunities for Shreveport-Bossier to give what's needed most.
Monday: Strawns parking lot on Airline drive in Bossier. We will be manning the station from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM
Tuesday: Zocolo parking lot in Ashley Ridge on Shreveport. The station will be manned from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
Weekdays: Acadiana Mortgage on Benton Road in Bossier. The station will be manned from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Below are the items needed; chairs, blankets, and pillows are most needed. Not to sound too picky, but they strongly prefer new items so they can be used immediately without going through a cleaning process.
Small Toothpaste (sample size)
Shampoo (sample size)
