Who knew the sombrero used to be such a big Mardi Gras accessory?

YouTube user Scott Longon shared home movie footage of a Mardi Gras parade in Lafayette circa 1969. It appears that the parade is somewhere in Downtown Lafayette. There are a lot of people wearing sombreros and it doesn't look like marching bands have changed much in the last 49 years.
