‘Pitch Perfect 3′ Release Date Announced

Universal Pictures announced Monday that it has greenlit Pitch Perfect 3, due to the success of the current Pitch Perfect 2, currently in theaters, with a release date of July 21, 2017.

Stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are already on board for the sequel, with Kendrick tweeting, "Happening #3," accompanied by a selfie of Kendrick holding up three fingers. And Wilson tweeted, "I know I spilt the beans a little while ago, but at least now it's OFFICIAL!! PITCH PERFECT 3, July 21, 2017!!! Sing 'ahhhhh' on 3 pitches x."

There's no word yet if Elizabeth Banks will return to the franchise to direct or co-star as a capella judge Gail.

Pitch Perfect 2 was released to theaters May 15 and has since grossed more than $170 million domestically.
