Pride in the Park Draws Quite a Crowd
More than 500 people showed up for Pride in the Park at Betty Virginia Park on Saturday. It was a day of fun and fellowship sponsored by PACE, People Acting for Change and Equality.
There was also a pet style show and many people brought out their pets for the extravaganza.
This event was planned prior to the events in Orlando at the Pulse Nightclub that left 49 people dead, but it held special meaning this year for the crowd that gathered to show support for one another.
The crowd enjoyed great food provided by Marilynns Place and lots of fun.
There's another event you might want to know about this week. Church for the Highlands (520 Olive St.; Rev. John Henson) will hold a service: “Love over Hate” Monday, June 20, at 7:00 pm. This will be a gathering to promote love and support for the LGBT community not only in Orlando but also here in our own community. The details are here on the church’s Facebook page.
