The travel and vacation season has finally hit Shreveport. One major advantage we have is getting through Shreveport Regional Airport, it is a breeze. I personally have found it to be not just a great time saver, but economically, Shreveport Regional is a win for me. By the time you factor in the 3-hour drive to DFW and parking, Shreveport Regional might be saving you big bucks, like it has for so many Shreveport residents. TSA Recommends That You Arrive 3 Hours Early at the Airport

Even though 3 hours sounds crazy, just know you run the risk of not being able to travel at all. Starting May 7th, 2025, your regular old driver's license will no longer be enough to clear TSA and board your flight. There are other methods that will allow you to make it through the security line, a U.S. Passport, a permanent resident card, or a Veteran Health ID Card are just a few of the options that you can use as backup for identification purposes. What is a REAL ID and Why Is It Important?

A REAL ID is a form of identification card that meets all the security standards that were established by the REAL ID Act of 2005, which was put in place after 9/11. How do you know if you have a REAL ID? Look for a star in the top right corner, which shows that you have verified your identity with additional documents. Starting May 7, 2025, it will be the only form of state-issued identification accepted for certain federal purposes, which include flying.
