The NFL season is about to kickoff this week, and a bunch of teams are making last minute moves to mold their rosters for opening weekend. The New Orleans Saints are included on that list, as they made a pair of roster moves today, one involving a quarterback who has NFL starts under his belt.

The Saints announced today that they are signing Jake Luton to their practice squad.

The 6-6 224 pound Luton started for the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2020 season. In his first NFL start, Luton threw for 304 yards and a touchdown against the Houston Texans. He also ran for a touchdown in that game. The Jags ended up losing to the Texans 27-25 that week.

He ended up starting two more games for the Jags, against the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Jacksonville and Luton lost those two games as well.

So he is winless in his three NFL starts, but he had at least one really strong performance (300+ passing yards and two TDs) in those games. His career totals are 473 yards, 2 passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown and six interceptions.

Before being drafted in the 6th round of the 2020 NFL Draft, he played for three years at Oregon State. He was named the starting QB in 2017, but missed games due to injuries. He ended his career in college playing in 42 games, threw for 12,59 yards, 83 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions.
