Who is Senator John Kennedy?

A Democrat-turned-Republican, John Kennedy served as the Louisiana State Treasurer from 2000 to 2017. However, Senator Kennedy is best known across America for his hilarious one-liners. He's the source of gems like, "Is it true that Hagerty has a tattoo of the Backstreet Boys on his lower back?" and "I think she's the reason there are directions on a shampoo bottle."

Why Is Senator Kennedy Talking About "Shrimp Aliens"?

Remember the recent recall of radioactive shrimp from a popular brand? Senator Kennedy spoke on the Senate floor, and his warning was both serious and classic Kennedy.

"This is what you could end up looking like if you eat some of the raw frozen shrimp being sent to the United States from foreign countries," he said, referencing shrimp from Indonesia. "Now I am biased, I believe in homegrown Louisiana shrimp, fresh out of the Gulf—not radioactive."

He then added his signature twist: "Even if it doesn’t turn you into the alien, if you eat the stuff, I guarantee you’ll grow an extra ear."

Kennedy's serious claim is that if you consume enough of these shrimp, you could become resistant to certain American antibiotics. You can see the entire video below.
