Beyond Shreveport City Limits: We Found a Burger That Could Change Your Life.
Shreveport has a litany of family-owned restaurants that serve up incredible burgers. But what if Shreveport's best burger wasn't technically in Shreveport? The place we have in mind isn't necessarily the finest dining establishment. We'd be hard pressed to call it much of a "dining" experience, it's probably something closer to a cafeteria.
Though there's a catch to this mouthwatering patty stacked sandwich, it's not available except for 14 hours a week.
So Delicious It Can't Be Captured On Camera
Being a member of one of the generations raised in the digital age, there's an instinct somewhere in my brain to take a picture of my meal so I can show off to an audience of followers who will not look twice at it (we all do it, it's okay.) When I got this burger, that part of my brain succeeded, and I managed to get a picture of this double cheesburger but didn't care to find a better angle to snap because this thing just smelled so good.
Now this burger was big, and I'm disappointed my camera doesn't do this thing the justice it deserves because I could barely hold this thing with two hands. The patties were served fresh from the grill, and you could taste that freshness. A healthy heaping of onions, tomatoes, and lettuce adds some heft to this burger, but whoever's putting these sandwiches together knows not to go overboard on any of those ingredients.
The Unexpected Home of a Local Gem
To find this gem, you'll need to just head a few minutes down I-20 West, and you'll find the Greenwood Flea Market in Greenwood, LA. The concessions at the Greenwood Flea could be passed off as some cheap boring food stand selling ice cream and cheese fries, but you'd be mistaken if you thought that's all it was worth.
The burgers are juicy, big, and flavorful, and they're not expensive at all. I got a double cheeseburger with a drink and a meal for my girlfriend, and our bill was less than $20.
