Shreveport-Bossier Gridlock: Two Major Wrecks Cause Traffic Nightmare
Between construction and accidents, it can be a MAJOR pain trying to navigate. And right now, Shreveport is in an absolute NIGHTMARE.
There are two major wrecks causing huge delays on I-220 in both directions. According to DOTD, the effects can be felt for miles and they are urging drivers to find alternative routes because it could be a while before things are cleared up. This is on top of delays we're already dealing with when it comes to the I-20 construction and various other projects around town.
The first wreck happened just after 1 pm on I-220 Westbound at I-49. A semi, as seen in the photo below, crashed on the on-ramp is partially hanging over the edge. At last update, congestion was over 3 miles and is expected to take a while to be cleaned up.
The other wreck, happened a short time later on the Cross Lake Bridge. According to reports, an industrial truck and a car were involved in an accident. The report from DOTD states that traffic from that wreck is backing things up over 4 miles.
So, if you regularly drive I-220 in either direction, you may want to find an alternative route because these two wrecks will seemingly have things tied up for the foreseeable future.
