Shreveport City Workers Help Clean Up Youree Drive Homeless Camp
Over the past several weeks, citizens of Shreveport began showing concern over a homeless camp outside of Walmart on Youree Drive.
People took to social media both concerned for the safety of those living in those conditions, and those who were angry and believed the camp was an eyesore.
Councilman Grayson Boucher spoke at two council meetings addressing the issue of safety and well-being of those who were having to live at the make-shift camp.
After some planning, the City of Shreveport got to work on cleaning up the area of the camp and helping those who were living there to find shelter. Many are grateful to have the campsite gone and are happy that the people having to live there are safe.
City crews worked Thursday (1-19-23) to clean up trash, wooden pallets, and grocery carts from the area in order to make it safe for drivers and pedestrians.
