On Friday, May 3rd, 2024 Shreveport Found Out That the Old Dripp Donuts Building at 421 Market Street Would Be Torn Down Immediately.

What was once a thriving business in Downtown Shreveport serving some of the most incredible donuts suddenly closed. When they first closed it was just a closing until everything got sorted out. Then it became a huge mess and it was a very controversial topic in Shreveport.

Dripp Donuts announced to the community that they were forced to close its doors because the building was structurally unsound and could collapse at any time. Now we have found out that Dripp Donuts is suing the Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation and its non-profit corporation, DSDC2. Inc.

Dripp Donuts leased the building that is now torn down from Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation (DSDC) and DSDC2 Inc., on August 1, 2022. According to KTALNews.com, "The lease agreement states that DSDC2 ‘prior to handing over the premise,’ agreed to perform necessary repairs ‘as soon as possible’ and to ‘the reasonable satisfaction of the tenant." The lawsuit alleges that DSDC2 breached its obligation to Dripp. According to Dripp’s lease agreement, the lease ended in August 2027.
