This morning, firefighters with the Shreveport Fire Department battled a blaze on Springhill Street between Louisiana Avenue and McNeil Street.  Now investigators are trying to determine what, or who caused the fire.  Officials believe that a man seen at the house just before the SFD arrived could have started that fire - but the description of this "person of interest" leaves a lot to be desired.

The Shreveport Fire Department Learned that Putting Out the Fire Was The Easy Part

According to a report from KSLA, when the SFD firetrucks arrived on the scene - there was a thick cloud of black smoke being belched into the sky by the raging inferno.  Although the consummate professionals with the fire department were able to extinguish the flames in around 15 minutes, the cause of the blaze is a bit of a mystery.

Several Shreveport Eyewitnesses Reported Seeing the "Shirtless" Man

Reportedly, the call to 911 dispatchers to report the fire was made by neighbors who later told investigators that the unnamed man that lived in the house ran to their door in a "frantic" state that they witnessed remotely through their doorbell camera.  Officials with the SFD said that he was not there when they arrived.  Another witness, this time a City of Shreveport with the water department, reported that he saw "someone running from the house before the fire."  Others told investigators that they heard a "popping" sound just before the house fire erupted.

The Official Description of The "Person of Interest" Is a Little Vague

The official description of the man fire investigators are looking for is as follows:

...a white male in his mid-30s with tattoos on his arms (wearing) no shirt and blue jeans

If you know someone that fits that description that may also smell a lot like smoke, please reach out the Shreveport Fire Department at 318-673-7373.
