Locals Say This Shreveport Building Is Even More Haunted Than the Municipal
I lived in downtown Shreveport for a little over a year, and I remember hearing all the ghost stories that supposedly haunt the quiet area. You know the ones, the buildings with strange happenings, and of course, the crazy theory that Elvis Presley’s ghost haunts the Shreveport Municipal. But come on, how haunted can a place like Shreveport really be?

Unfortunately for me, I quickly discovered that I’m more like Courage the Cowardly Dog when it comes to facing my ghost fears.
The thought of all the creepy things that happen inside the Shreveport Municipal makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. But I was even more shocked when I found out that many folks in Shreveport swear there’s a building that’s even more haunted than the Municipal. One that I would walk past every single weekend when walking to get my Rhino Coffee fix.
Is a Different Downtown Building the Real Hotspot?
Even though the "Ghost Hunters" TV show came to Shreveport to perform a paranormal investigation at the Municipal, many locals are convinced they went to the wrong building. Could it be that we focused on the wrong location all along? Perhaps we needed to look across the street.
Many Shreveporters claim a building across from the courthouse is the most haunted place of all. On the outside, it doesn’t look particularly scary, but its past tells a different story. It was once a morgue.
A Shreveport resident named Jessica even messaged me about it. She said from her experience, the real haunted spot isn't the courthouse, but the three- or four-story building right across the street. Owned by Bail-Ey Bail Bonds, the building used to be a drugstore about 70 years ago, and in its basement, it truly housed the city morgue.
Jessica even worked there 15 years ago when a Mexican restaurant, Caliente’s, opened on the first floor. She said the metal cadaver drawers were still present in the basement.
Even though the basement wasn’t in use, she said you could hear noises coming from down there, especially late at night when the building was empty. She told me that employees often spotted and heard ghosts after hours. The stories have me convinced I will never go near that vicinity after dark.
