When it comes to Shreveport figures, you'd be hard-pressed to find one more well-known than Disco Dale.

For decades, Disco Dale has been all over the Ark-La-Tex, owning the show wherever he goes. Whether it was a nightclub, a radio station event, a restaurant, or anywhere in town lucky enough to be graced by Disco, you knew he was in the room when he walked in. If you didn't, he'd make sure you knew really quick.

Dale will always be remembered as a staple in Shreveport nightlife. I've always heard that if Disco Dale didn't come into a bar or a nightclub on a Saturday night, the night simply wasn't good enough. Of course, we all have memories of Disco tearing it up on a dance floor around town, but the real Disco that you'd find in the daylight was the nicest guy you'd ever meet.

I was lucky enough to know him for the past ten years, and it was always a fun time when he came around. You never knew what he'd say or do next, and that was one of the greatest things about him. He truly LOVED this area and absolutely loved the relationships he built with so many through the years.

Not much is known at this time about his passing, other than the fact that he died early this morning. That has been confirmed by multiple close friends of Disco, although the official cause of death has not been released yet. Disco is believed to be in his mid-to-late sixties. He has been battling multiple health issues for the last few months. Once we have more information in that regard, we will update you with the latest.

This weekend, let's all go out and enjoy the bars and nightclubs in the Ark-La-Tex. While we're there, let's think about Disco Dale and what he meant for nightlife in town. Let's have a blast, and know that Disco Dale will be right there with us, like he always was.

Rest in peace to a true legend and a great man, Disco Dale.
