Over the Edge: Shreveport Rappelling Fundraiser
Have you ever watched a movie and seen someone rappel down a building and thought to yourself, "I can totally do that"? Well, now is your chance to prove it, not just to yourself but to the entire Shreveport community.
On Saturday, October 4, 2025, brave community members will take their support to new heights, literally, by rappelling down the Fairmont Tower Apartments in downtown Shreveport.
The Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana is teaming up with Shreveport Common to host "Over the Edge," a thrilling fundraiser designed to help build homes and transform our neighborhoods from blight to bright.
What is "Over the Edge"?
This one-of-a-kind event challenges participants to raise funds for a powerful cause: providing decent, affordable housing for families in need. Your reward for reaching your fundraising goal? The chance to rappel down one of Shreveport’s tallest buildings. It’s a daring adventure for a truly important mission.
Even if you're not rappelling, spectators can enjoy a lively street party hosted by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC), making it a day filled with fun, community spirit, and purpose.
Why We’re Going Over the Edge
“This event is more than just a daring adventure—it’s a way for our community to rally around families who deserve a safe, decent place to call home,” said Lee Jeter, the Executive Director of the Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana. “Every dollar raised goes directly to building and repairing homes, turning areas of blight into neighborhoods full of hope and opportunity.”
Even the Mayor Is Doing It!
Mayor Tom Arceneaux has already committed to strapping on a harness and rappelling down the Fairmont Tower in support of the cause.
“I’m looking forward to going ‘Over the Edge’ for such a good cause,” said Mayor Arceneaux. “Tackling blight is one of my top priorities, and we’re taking it on block by block. The Fuller Center is helping us rebuild stronger, safer neighborhoods, and I’m proud to join them in this mission.”
How You Can Get Involved
You don’t have to be a superhero to help. Community members can get involved by registering to rappel, volunteering, sponsoring, or simply attending the street party to cheer on participants
