Viral Photos of Shreveport Police Cruisers Spotted at Bikini Car Wash Spark Outrage

Viral photos of Shreveport Police vehicles circulating online have sparked a firestorm of public outcry and laughter. The pics shared online show at least one Shreveport Police Cruiser being washed at a bikini car wash hosted by Larry Flynt's Hustler Club in downtown. The controversial images have already caused both SPD and Mayor Tom Arceneaux to release public statements about the City and Department's public image.

The Hustler Club Incident Unfolds

On July 19th the Larry Flynt's Hustler Club Shreveport page on Facebook posted some pics taken of girls in bikinis washing a Shreveport Police patrol vehicle. The post was actually intended for officers to see the advertisement for the club's $5 discount and free non-alcoholic drinks for all officers in uniform. As of now, it's not public knowledge if the Department is aware of which officer's cruiser was pictured.

SPD and Mayor Arceneaux Respond to Bikini Carwash Pics

Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith and the rest of the Department's leadership put out a press release and put it plain and simply, "this is not the image we want representing our department." They went on to thank the public for their understanding and promised to carry out their commitment to strengthening their relationship with the community.

On the same day as the public statement from the Police, the Mayor gave a press release with a similar story. The Mayor stated, "The professionalism of our police department is paramount to building and maintaining public trust," and added, "This incident does not reflect the culture of SPD, the vast majority of officers who serve this city honorably every day, or the City of Shreveport."

The Public Responds

The public response to the photos has been mixed. Tons of commenters online are understandably upset at the image, but others are poking fun at the situation. Larry Flynt's has doubled down on the viral opportunity and expanded their discount to include Police, Fire, and EMS.
