The wait for Country Tavern Barbecue to open up has passed the four-year mark. Now, Shreveport is wondering if the once-booming BBQ spot will ever open its doors again.

Barbecue and steak lovers traveled to Shreveport just for Country Tavern's meat options, those wonderful fried pickled spears, and those one-of-a-kind au gratin potatoes. I mean, who doesn't miss that yummy goodness? We have been without Country Tavern since 2021 because of a pipe burst. What was supposed to be a few weeks of a remodel has turned into a 4-year wait.

On March 9th, 2024, the Country Tavern Facebook page claimed they were working with contractors to get the place up and running. They claimed that their entire facility was destroyed. They also said that there was an issue with insurance and a supply crisis. "We had to start over with new everything during a supply crisis and insurance only paid a third of our total cost. We’re a small family owned business and our contractor is Dustin Jones Construction not Brown Construction that works 24/8"

On January 29, 2025, the Country Tavern Facebook page updated and claimed they got a new contractor and that "work is finally getting done." Since that information was released, there have not been any more updates.

Shreveport residents are still holding onto hope that the once popular dinner spot will make an epic comeback, and this family business can get back to serving up some of the best steak in town.

Country Tavern is located at 823 Brook Hollow Dr, Shreveport, LA.
