Shreveport Steelmaker Getting $14.7 Million Upgrade
Some much needed growth is coming to Shreveport's Port of Caddo-Bossier. Shreveport's Ternium USA has announced a massive, $14.7 million upgrade to their facility there. According to New Orleans City Business, the upgrade will also come with a few new jobs in addition to the 150 the company already employs there. The steelmaker manufactures a number of products like welded pipes, components for construction, and more at numerous locations worldwide.
This huge investment will allow the Shreveport location of Ternium USA to add another 24,000 square feet to it's facility, which will allow them to increase production of their galvanized steel products. Louisiana Economic Development (LED) officials say that this will add 6 direct jobs with average salaries of around $65,000 per year plus benefits. The LED also estimates that this move will create approximately 16 indirect jobs.
Construction is set to begin soon, and should be completed in early December of next year.
