I guess I have become the street light police for Shreveport and Bossier City. It's a job I really don't want, but this is a topic that is so irritating. And this is not a problem with this Mayor or this administration. This problem goes back for decades. But will anyone find a way to solve it?

We have no system in place for keeping street lights on in this community. Why? Can we not keep up with technology and address this issue? Every week, I get complaints about street lights out all over Shreveport. I'm told the Cross Lake Bridge is completely dark. 85% of the lights on 3132 are reportedly out. Lights are always out on I-20 in Shreveport. The area around the Fairgrounds has been a repetitive problem.

Then I get this photo from a friend who was in a plane flying over Shreveport. It makes us look like North Korea. The left hand side of the photo is the Arthur Teague Parkway in Bossier City. It's all lit up and beautiful. But on the right hand side of this photo, you can see the Clyde Fant Parkway on the Shreveport side. It is just about completely dark.

I hate to say this but it's easy to compare this photo to a satellite photo taken over North and South Korea. You can clearly see lights on in South Korea, but North Korea is almost completely dark. It amazes me to continue to hear stories about so many lights out in Shreveport. Who really wants to be like North Korea?

I have talked about this problem over and over again.

This week, crews have been working on I-20 and most of the lights are back on. But there are still some lights out between Monkhouse and Pines Road especially on the eastbound side.
