Shreveport Area Athlete Wins Silver in Santiago with Team USA
Did you know we have an athlete from right here in Benton, LA who just won a silver medal in Santiago at the Pan American Games as a part of Team USA?
Who is Sydney Conley Elliott?
Sydney is a local equestrian athlete from Benton, LA who just won a silver medal in Santiago as a part of Team USA. It's safe to say, that Syd is truly one of the best in the world in the sport of eventing.
Earlier this year, Sydney had a third-place finish with QC Diamantaire at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event Lexington CCI4*-S at Kentucky Horse Park which is considered the 'Grand Slam of Eventing.'
Elliott is a lifelong equestrian and proof positive that we have world-class equestrian talent right here in northwest Louisiana. She made her debut back in 2016 at the Kentucky Three-Day Event with Cisko A when it was known as Rolex. Since then, she's represented us well as a member of the US Eventing Team.
Flash forward to today and fans of eventing are still giddy over this weekend's results in Santiago for Team USA. If you're asking, what's Santiago 2023, no worries! It's where the Pan American Games were held this year and (obviously) they're a lead up to the 2024 Olympics next year in Paris.
How stinkin' cool would it be to have a local competing on the world stage at the penultimate test, the Olympics? Geaux Syd, Geaux!
