Shreveport Teen Hosting Jean Drive Instead of Sweet 16 Party
Most kids would be spending their Sweet 16 partying it up with friends and cake, but not Jalynn! She is doing something pretty amazing for the community for her birthday.
According to KSLA, Jalynn Mar'Dai Pickens, Caddo Magnet High sophomore, is holding a "Jeans for Teens" drive for her birthday.
There are multiple drop off locations sprinkled all through out the Shreveport/ Bossier City area including: Booker T. Washington, C.E. Byrd, Caddo Magnet, Captain Shreve, North Caddo Magnet, Southwood, Louisiana State University Shreveport, Southern University at Shreveport, and the Christian Dance Center. Just look for the donation boxes.
The drive is currently going on and will end on February 16th, according to KSLA. To find out more information about the Jean Drive click here.
I think this is absolutely fantastic. Pickens is setting a great example for her community and fellow students alike. This selfless act is not going unnoticed, and I believe the entire community should be proud of this young lady.
