Urgent PSA for Shreveport: Walmart Recalls Water Bottle Linked to “Vision Loss”
An important recall could affect hundreds of thousands of Walmart customers, including those here in Shreveport. The superstore is recalling about 850,000 bottles sold at the store due to a serious safety hazard that has already resulted in permanent vision loss in two reported cases.
Urgent Recall: Ozark Trail Bottles Cause Vision Loss Risk
The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Walmart have issued a recall for Ozark Trail 64 oz Stainless Steel Water Bottles. The bottles being recalled have a screw-on cap that can become pressurized and forcefully ejected from the bottle when opened. Since these bottles went on sale in 2017, there have been three confirmed cases where a person was injured by the caps flying off the lid; two of these cases have resulted in permanent vision loss.
Shreveport residents who bought one of these bottles in the 8 years they've been sitting on store shelves should immediatley stop using them and return them for a refund. The bottles have the model number 83-662, and are silver with a plastic black cap.
What the CPSC Says Shreveport Consumers Need to Do:
If you bought one of these dangerous bottles, it's urgently recommended that you stop using them. The CPSC says Shreveport residents who own one of these bottles need to contact Walmart to get a refund on the product, which can be done in-store with the recalled Ozark Trail bottle in hand.
The safety of our community is vital. Please share this information with friends and family in Shreveport to ensure everyone is aware of this urgent recall on a dangerous product.
