If you're a student in Shreveport looking for a job to keep you occupied over the summer this year, the news isn't great. A recent study placed Shreveport as one of the worst cities in the country to find summer work.

Find out why Shreveport is a bad place to find a gig in the summer months.

Shreveport Among Worst Cities For Summer Work

A recent study from a personal finance group looked at over 180 of the biggest cities in the U.S. and Shreveport didn't get a good grade. Looking at the unemployment data, average job pay, poverty rates, available internships, and cost of living prices they found that some cities are a great place to find a summer job, but Shreveport isn't one of those cities.

The 7th worst city in the United States to find a summer job, Shreveport was also tied for having the highest unemployment rate of 16-24-year-olds. That ties Shreveport with Yonkers, NY, and Detroit, MI for unemployment in that age range.

For students that's not great, especially since Shreveport has a lot of students at schools like LSU and Louisiana Tech that will be sending their students home for summer. Students coming back to Shreveport looking for work won't just be coming to a place where it's harder to find summer work, but they'll be fighting with each other in the application pool.

Shreveport is the 2nd worst city for summer work in Louisiana, at least of the cities included in the study. Baton Rouge was the 2nd worst city in the entire country, while New Orleans was the 22nd worst.
